Learn to type with accuracy and rhythm
In Tecla, you practice letters, words, numbers and full texts. Choose the layout that matches your computer keyboard, start a lesson and type the indicated character. The visual keyboard shows the next key and guides your finger placement.
A learning path with three levels
Beginner · 24 lessons
Start with hand placement and the keyboard rows. Move on to words, accents and short texts. Complete each lesson with at least 90% accuracy to unlock Intermediate.
Intermediate · 12 lessons
Practice fluency, schedules, amounts, punctuation and everyday messages. Complete every lesson with at least 95% accuracy to unlock Pro.
Pro · 12 lessons
Build consistency with longer texts, symbols and structured data. Each lesson requires at least 97% accuracy to pass.
Practice with your keyboard
There are five layouts: Brazilian ABNT2, US QWERTY, Portuguese QWERTY, French AZERTY and Dvorak. Progress and unlocks are saved separately for each layout. Choosing a layout in Tecla does not change your system keyboard; keep both compatible to type accents and symbols.
Make the most of each session
- Rest your feet, relax your shoulders and find the reference keys without looking.
- Practice for 5 to 10 minutes at a time, taking breaks when you feel tired.
- Focus on accuracy. Repeat a lesson before trying to increase your speed.
Typing practice questions
How is typing speed calculated?
WPM (words per minute) treats a word as a group of five characters. Accuracy compares correct keystrokes with all attempts, including corrected mistakes.
How do I unlock the levels?
Pass all 24 Beginner lessons to open Intermediate. Then pass all 12 Intermediate lessons to open Pro. Repeating one lesson does not replace completing the others.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, in the browser and device you use to practice. You can pause and resume. Clearing site data removes that progress; use Export backup in Settings to keep a copy or transfer it to another browser.
Which languages are available?
Portuguese, Spanish and English, for both the interface and exercises. The home page follows your browser preference; language links open a specific version. Language and keyboard layout are independent choices.
